Scaled Embodied Carbon Reductions for Contractors

Typical embodied carbon strategies are project-specific and exclusive to a single contract, so reductions only impact one project at a time. But with the help of Fortify Fleet, developers can scale their embodied carbon reductions to the contractor’s entire project portfolio.

10X Authentic ESG+R

Carbon Upskilling can compound your ESG+R scores up to 10x when you sponsor construction professionals towards a supply chain of at least 50% low carbon materials. Upskilled reductions are more authentic and investor friendly than quick fix carbon offsets.

Increased Cost Savings

The revolution in green building has led to increased demand for carbon skills. Fortify Fleet helps you stick with your legacy contractor by upskilling them — a cost and time savings by avoiding a new competitive bidding process for new carbon skilled contractors.

Reduced Schedule Delays

With technical expertise and support available from leading experts, contractors can reduce failures and call-backs associated with novel materials and strategies.

Increased GHG Reductions

Using Carbon Upskilling, organizations can 10x their GHG reductions as they influence projects across their contractor’s entire network.

Increased Resilience

Transitioning to a predominantly low carbon material supply can mean more resilient, stronger, longer lasting, local materials. This is especially true in the case of high CSH, pozzolanic concrete mixes which our experts can help you master.

Increased Net Promoter Value

Carbon Upskilling means the contractor learns the relevant skills that create value, demand and leads to more winning bids for personal career advancement and happiness.

 FAQs

  • It can cost as much as 1 year’s subscription or at a maximum 3 years. For example, if a developer enrolls a small contractor (a contractor that does under 10 jobs per year) and that contractor transitions to the 50% low carbon material threshold in under 1 year, then the developer will only pay $5,000. But if it takes that contractor the maximum (3 years) then the developer will have paid $15,000.

  • An example of a contractor procurement policy is: “All contractors bidding on this project must either submit certification of a 50% low carbon material supply chain, or commit to obtaining certification if awarded this job.” We suggest stating this policy during the bidding stage in order to procure contractors skilled in the use of novel, low carbon materials and reduce the incidence of call- backs, project delays or novel material failures.

  • Fortifcation — the transitioning of a contractor’s supply chain to 50% low carbon materials — should be doable for everyone in 3 years, and some in even 2 or 1 year. If a contractor is unable to certify within the 3 year deadline, then we can’t issue a certification.

  • To enroll your contractor and get them started towards Fortification, start with providing their contact info, paying the fee and then we will contact the contractor to get things going. The first step, will be obtaining the contractor’s past year baseline so that we know what baseline to reduce from.
